The Nigerian Navy, under Operation DELTA SENTINEL, has dismantled reactivated illegal oil refining infrastructure in Rivers State, recovering over 126,000 litres of illicit petroleum products.
Director of Naval Information Captain Abiodun Folorunsho confirmed the development in an operational report released in Abuja, detailing follow-up interdiction efforts within the Egbema axis of Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area.
The operation follows an initial clearance on July 10 by personnel of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) PATHFINDER. When criminal elements attempted to rebuild the destroyed facilities, naval patrols monitored the area and launched a follow-up raid.

Operatives recovered approximately 76,000 litres of suspected stolen crude oil alongside 50,000 litres of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) concealed across seven dugout reservoirs and pits.
"The operation demonstrates the navy’s determination to deny crude oil thieves the opportunity to regain operational footholds or rebuild illegal refining infrastructure within its area of responsibility."
The Navy confirmed that all recovered products and equipment were handled in accordance with established anti-crude oil theft procedures.
Naval authorities reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven pressure across criminal enclaves to protect critical national oil assets and support Nigeria's economic stability.
