The anti-corruption update is trending at the absolute peak of judicial news cycles because the Federal High Court in Lagos, presided over by Justice Alexandra Owoeye, issued a final forfeiture order covering 52 terrace and maisonette housing units located at Mercyville Estate in Ilasan, Lekki.
The luxury residential estate was recovered by the Lagos Zonal Directorate 2 of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from Fielddreams Limited, its promoter Ifeanyi Nweke, and Amex Savings and Loans Limited.

Court filings presented by EFCC counsel Franklin Ofoma revealed that Nweke is currently a fugitive facing multiple criminal charges who had jumped administrative bail and failed to appear before state high courts despite two active warrants of arrest.
The legal victory has ignited intense discussions within legal and real estate circles due to the court's strict rejection of the developers' defense.
Justice Owoeye completely struck out the respondents' counter-affidavits after identifying severe self-contradictions in their evidence—the developers initially claimed the ₦1.9 billion construction was funded by previous housing sales completed in 2020, but later deposed that the units remained uncompleted.
With their defense struck out and the EFCC establishing reasonable suspicion that the property constituted proceeds of crime, the court granted full final forfeiture.
The narrative remains highly conversational as the developers quickly filed an urgent appeal at the Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal to stay execution of the judgment, arguing that transferring forfeited assets to designated private third parties violates statutory forfeiture laws.
