Why is fuoye vc visit chancellor trending?

The Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) is trending across Nigerian academic circles following the high-profile, historic visit of the university’s newly appointed fifth Vice-Chancellor, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, to the institution's Chancellor, the Attah of Igala, His Royal Majesty Matthew Alaji Opaluwa Ogwuche-Akpa II, at his palace in the Igala Kingdom, Kogi State.

Taking over the mantle of leadership in February 2026, Professor Ogunwole led a senior delegation—including the University Registrar and the Chief Security Officer—to pay homage, seek royal blessings, and strengthen administrative ties with the Chancellor.

The visit gained significant traction online due to the VC's celebrated public relations address, where he emphasized his deep personal and academic connections to the hospitality of Igala land.

Concurrently, the trend is being driven by critical safety discussions. FUOYE management used the public momentum of the Chancellor's visit to forcefully debunk viral "fake news" and malicious social media rumors claiming the university was shutting down due to imminent bandit attacks.

The university administration firmly reassured students, parents, and the public that the campus remains completely safe, secure, and fully operational, urging everyone to ignore the security scaremongering.
