Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command, working in close tactical collaboration with local hunters and joint security agencies, have successfully neutralized three suspected kidnappers and rescued an abducted victim during a high-stakes emergency operation in Otu, located within the Oke-Ogun axis of the state.
The successful counter-terrorism breakthrough was confirmed in an official statement released on Tuesday, May 26, 2026, by the command's spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka.
The security operation was initiated following a desperate distress call received on May 25 from a group of local hunters who came under heavy, unprovoked gunfire from bandits while on a hunting expedition in the Otu forest.
Responding swiftly to the active intelligence, a heavily armed combined team of police operatives and local hunters mobilized to the scene, tracking the criminals to their enclave.
Upon arrival, the kidnappers engaged the security forces in a fierce gun duel.

Utilizing superior tactical positioning, the joint team overpowered the criminals, neutralizing three kidnappers on the spot while recovering an AK-47 assault rifle, a single-barrel gun, and a machete.
The operation also achieved the successful rescue of 50-year-old Mosudi Gbolagade, who had been abducted from Okaka.
Gbolagade, who sustained gunshot wounds during the crossfire, was evacuated alongside an injured local hunter to a nearby hospital for emergency medical care.
The breakthrough brings a glimmer of hope to the state as tension remains high following the brutal May 15 attacks on three schools in Oriire LGA, where over 40 students and teachers were abducted and a Mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, was tragically killed.
