The United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, operating out of its Los Angeles field office, has announced the official arrest and detention of a 49-year-old Nigerian national identified as Etinosa Osahon.
The foreign national was picked up by federal immigration enforcement agents and is currently being processed for formal deportation from the country.
In a public statement released on Saturday via its official X platform handles, the enforcement agency detailed that Osahon was taken into custody on May 21.
His arrest forms part of a broader, sustained crack-down targeting undocumented immigrants and foreign nationals with extensive criminal histories who pose an ongoing threat to public financial infrastructure and community security within the United States.
According to official federal records published by immigration authorities, Osahon has built up a highly problematic criminal track record within the United States.
His rap sheet includes multiple severe charges and prior convictions for the theft and illegal possession of stolen mail, bank fraud schemes, and aggravated identity theft targeting unsuspecting American residents and corporate entities.
"ICE Los Angeles arrested Etinosa Osahon, 49, of Nigeria, May 21," the federal law enforcement agency’s public statement read.
"Osahon’s criminal record includes stealing and being in possession of stolen mail, bank fraud, and aggravated identity theft. He is in ICE custody pending removal."
Federal officials confirmed that Osahon will remain locked down in an immigration detention center until his formal deportation and removal proceedings to Nigeria are concluded.
