The Oyo State Government has officially debunked widespread social media publications claiming that the students and teachers forcefully abducted from three educational facilities in the Oriire Local Government Area of the state have been released by their captors.
Government representatives described the viral posts as inaccurate fabrications that do not reflect the ongoing tactical situation on the ground.
The Special Adviser on Security to the Oyo State Governor, Abayomi Fagbenro, made the crucial clarification on Thursday morning following urgent media inquiries regarding the circulating reports.
According to the state security chief, joint intelligence forces are still actively deployed in the field to secure the safe return of the citizens.

“As of 10:35 am, it’s not true,” Fagbenro stated explicitly to journalists, warning members of the public against spreading unverified rumors that could compromise ongoing tactical search and rescue maneuvers.
The tragic security breach occurred last week Friday when heavily armed gunmen simultaneously invaded Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota, Community Grammar School, and the LEA Primary School in Esiele.
During the violent raid, the attackers killed two local residents and marched about 30 teachers and students into the forest.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the Oyo State Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, corroborated the security adviser's stance, noting that the command is utilizing all technical assets to locate the criminal hideout.
To bolster the state's security apparatus, the Inspector-General of Police has deployed a specialized team of detectives from the Force Headquarters in Abuja to work alongside the military and local hunters to ensure all hostages are returned safely without harm.
