Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) have successfully arrested a mother and her daughter for their alleged masterminding of a sophisticated international romance scam that defrauded a victim based in Malta of over N18 million.
The operational breakthroughs followed extensive forensic intelligence sharing provided by the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) detailing cases of severe computer-related fraud, systematic identity theft, and corporate money laundering.
In an official press statement issued by the Acting Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Uwana Imah, the detained suspects were explicitly identified as 39-year-old Urowhe Diana and her 22-year-old daughter, Rokibat Oluwasheyi Imoru.

Preliminary police files show that Rokibat collaborated with a Lagos resident identified as Emmanuel Amanfo—who happens to be Diana's husband and Rokibat's stepfather—to open and run multiple digital bank accounts used to harvest fraudulent money transfers.
Digital footprints revealed that the illicit proceeds were routed through international money transfer operators directly into Rokibat's accounts before being aggregated into an Ecobank account owned by Diana for personal luxury spending.
While the mother and daughter face imminent prosecution at the conclusion of investigations, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered a full-scale tactical manhunt to apprehend the fleeing Amanfo, reiterating the NPF's absolute commitment to purifying Nigeria's cyberspace.
