Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have successfully intercepted major consignments of illicit drugs, including cocaine and various opioids, hidden inside outbound package shipments heading to the United Kingdom and Australia.
According to an official statement released by the NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the critical seizures took place on Friday, May 15, 2026, at a prominent courier firm operating in Lagos.
The illegal substances were discovered neatly concealed inside the double walls of shipping cartons during a routine examination of outbound cargo.
The agency's search operations uncovered a total of 170 grams of cocaine wrapped carefully in cellophane parcels and embedded deep within a box containing clothing items designed for export to Australia.

In a parallel discovery at the same location, NDLEA officers intercepted a separate parcel headed for the United Kingdom.
Inside this package, security personnel uncovered a large stash of restricted prescription opioids, which included 200 ampoules of pentazocine injection, 1,100 capsules of tramadol, and 100 ampoules of promethazine injection.
Beyond the operations in Lagos, the anti-narcotics agency extended its enforcement drive to the South-South region of the country.
Supported by military personnel, NDLEA operatives launched successful raids on illicit cannabis farms across Delta State, resulting in the destruction of 65,000 kilograms of skunk.
The agency reported that a raid at Ejeonu village in the Ukwuani local government area led to the clearance of 11 hectares of farmland, where a 52-year-old suspect named Ifeanyichukwu Peter was apprehended.
A subsequent operation in Orogun village, located within the Ughelli North local government area, brought down another 15 hectares of cannabis plantations and led to the arrest of 30-year-old Godwin Vincent Osadera.
The agency has reiterated its total commitment to dismantling international drug trafficking networks utilizing Nigerian ports.
