Iran’s chief negotiator, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, has issued a stern warning to the United States, declaring that Donald Trump will face a devastating military response if the American government resumes tactical operations against Iranian interests.
The aggressive rhetoric comes amid a highly fragile regional ceasefire that temporarily halted a major international conflict.
In a public social media broadcast published on Saturday, May 23, Ghalibaf asserted that Tehran successfully utilized the six-week armistice period to drastically rebuild and upgrade its conventional defense capabilities.
"Our armed forces have rebuilt themselves during the ceasefire period in such a way that if Trump commits another act of folly and restarts the war, it will certainly be more crushing and bitter for the United States than on the first day of the war," Ghalibaf warned.

The current geopolitical standoff originally erupted on February 28 following joint military airstrikes by the United States and Israel against Iranian territory, which triggered waves of retaliatory missile and drone swarms across the region.
The escalating war of words coincided with critical backchannel diplomatic meetings in Tehran aimed at preventing the April 8 ceasefire from collapsing.
Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff, Asim Munir, arrived in the Iranian capital on Friday to lead high-level security discussions.
Munir held extensive late-night deliberations with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, followed by consecutive strategic meetings on Saturday with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
According to Iranian state broadcaster IRIB, the ongoing consultations are centered around complex legal frameworks to defuse border tensions and mitigate American negotiation demands, which Tehran has heavily criticized as "excessive."
Simultaneously, Foreign Minister Araghchi has initiated emergency phone conferences with diplomatic counterparts in Turkey, Iraq, Qatar, and Oman—the latter historically serving as a principal intermediary between Washington and Tehran—in a desperate bid to preserve regional stability.
