The quiet community of Oke Egan, located within the Ilogbo-Eremi area of Badagry, Lagos State, has been thrown into deep mourning following the horrific rape and murder of a 60-year-old grandmother, Madam Victoria Adegoke, by unidentified hoodlums.
The lifeless body of the sexagenarian was discovered abandoned in a secluded bush path early Friday morning at around 6:10 am by shocked passersby.
Community sources who observed the graphic scene revealed that the victim was left entirely naked, with clear physical marks indicating that her wrists had been bound by her assailants before she was brutally strangled to death and dragged into the undergrowth.
Local residents reported that Madam Adegoke had spent the preceding days participating in a spiritual revival programme at The Joy of Christ Ministry, locally known as the Ayo Jesu Church.

She was ambushed while walking back to her residence in the early hours of Friday morning after staying briefly with a sibling who lives near the place of worship. Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a prominent community leader stated:
“The deceased is someone I know. Her daughter stays abroad. She went to church last Tuesday and had been there for some time because they were holding a programme that ended four days ago.
It was while she was returning home around six in the morning that she was reportedly attacked. The suspects removed her clothes and underwear. They strangled her and also took her phone.
Her ATM card and Bible were found at the scene.”
The Ilogbo-Eremi area, which sits directly along the porous boundary separating Lagos and Ogun states, has gained notoriety among residents for violent cross-border crimes.
Local youth leaders noted that this tragedy marks the fourth similar violent assault recorded within the immediate vicinity in recent times.
The local police post in Ilogbo-Eremi has recovered the victim's abandoned personal effects, including her Bible and banking cards.
While the Lagos State Police Command's spokesperson, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, has not issued an official public statement regarding the ongoing homicide investigation, detectives are reportedly tracking the attackers utilizing the digital footprint of the victim's stolen mobile phone.
