NCFront Secretary Warns Against Northern Presidency in 2027; Backs Obi-Kwankwaso Alliance
The National Consultative Front (NCFront) has issued a stern warning regarding the 2027 presidency, insisting that power must remain in the South to maintain national unity.
Speaking on Nigeria Info FM on Monday, April 20, 2026, the group’s Secretary, Yunus Akintola, argued that the unwritten agreement to rotate power between the North and South every eight years must be strictly respected.
Akintola explained that the emerging Obi-Kwankwaso ticket under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) is a strategic necessity to bridge Nigeria's leadership gap.
He hit back at critics, stating that the alliance is built on competence and fairness rather than tribalism, and noted that the Southeast has been ignored for too long.
“Rotating power is the only way to keep the federation working together. Any attempt to keep power in the North would be seen as a slap in the face to the South,” Akintola warned.
He also challenged former Vice President Atiku Abubakar to sacrifice his personal ambition and back the alliance.
According to Akintola, such a move would elevate Atiku to a "legendary statesman" status, similar to Goodluck Jonathan.
He concluded that with other major parties currently "drowning" in internal crises, the ADC-led third-force remains the most reliable platform for the next election cycle.
