The Nigeria Hotel Association (NHA) has issued a stern warning to its members across the country to stop accommodating criminals within their premises.
The National President, Patrick Anyanwu, delivered this warning during a meeting with national executives and state chairmen in Owerri, Imo State.
Anyanwu emphasized that the association is committed to maintaining high industry standards and will not tolerate members who provide cover for internet fraudsters, popularly known as "Yahoo Yahoo boys."
He warned that any hotel found guilty would face severe penalties, including potential shutdown by security agencies.
“Any hotelier caught harbouring criminals or ‘Yahoo Yahoo’ boys will have themselves to blame. The association believes in a standard operating system,” Anyanwu stated.
The NHA President also urged all hotel operators to register with the association at both state and national levels to avoid sanctions.
He highlighted the hospitality sector's role as a major employer in Nigeria and called on the government to provide support through grants while protecting members from unnecessary harassment by regulatory agencies.
