A wave of outrage has hit Delta State following the release of a graphic video showing a police officer fatally shooting a young man in Warri.
The incident, which reportedly occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, has led to calls for the immediate arrest of the officers involved.
In the 30-second clip, the victim is seen with his hands tied, pleading with the officers in pidgin English to spare him, offering to lead them to his accomplices in Sapele.
“Officer I beg, I go tell you everything. Na my friend na him deceive me,”
the victim pleaded. Ignoring the pleas, the officer fired multiple shots at his legs before reloading and shooting him in the head.
Social activist Harrison Gwamishu confirmed the victim died at the scene under the Efurun Area Command.
While some officers in the video were heard cheering the shooter, others expressed concern as the perpetrator allegedly fled the scene.
The Delta State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the viral footage.
