Rising Nollywood star Tobi Makinde has addressed the swirling rumors regarding a fallout between him and his industry mentor, Funke Akindele.
Speculation of a rift intensified after Akindele, who is widely regarded as his "industry mother," was noticeably absent from Makinde’s wedding in December 2025.
In a recent interview with the BBC, the actor dismissed the claims, stating that social media often blows situations out of proportion.
He explained that as people grow and transition through different life stages, certain relationships may appear distant without there being an actual conflict.
“I’m not aware of any fallout between madam Funke and I... As you grow and move from one level to another, some relationships may look like they are lost in transit,” Makinde explained in Pidgin.
According to Dailypost, the actor credited his career success to Akindele’s productions but maintained that their bond is personal and does not need to be validated by social media activity.
