Despite this success, the state is mourning the loss of 14 brave vigilante members, including a Commander in Bagna, and two civilians who were killed during a fresh attack on the Bagna and Yelwa communities.

The Commissioner for Information, Nuhu Nana, confirmed the fatalities on Friday, expressing the government’s deep sorrow.

The Niger State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to restoring peace, noting that the high casualty rate among the bandits proves the effectiveness of current joint operations.

“The outcome of the feat underscored the effectiveness and resilience of the joint operations aimed at dismantling criminal elements,” the statement read.

Residents are urged to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information as reinforcements are deployed to sustain the momentum.
