In a decisive operation, the Kano State Police Command has neutralized Halifa Baba-Beru, one of the state’s most wanted armed robbers, during a confrontation in Gwammaja Quarters, Dala Local Government Area.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, officers responded to a distress call on April 22, 2025, at approximately 1:00 PM, reporting an armed robbery in progress. Upon arrival, the police team encountered Baba-Beru and his gang wielding dangerous weapons and attacking civilians.

A fierce exchange ensued, during which two officers, Corporal Abdullahi Ibrahim and Sergeant Yahaya Saidu, sustained injuries. Baba-Beru was also critically wounded. All injured parties were transported to Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital, where Baba-Beru succumbed to his injuries, while the officers received treatment and were subsequently discharged.

The police have intensified efforts to apprehend the remaining members of the gang. SP Kiyawa assured the public of the Command’s commitment to ensuring justice and maintaining security in the region.
