The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a 10-year-old boy, identified as Chinecherem Onuwasoanya, who lost his way home after wandering off to play in the Okpoko area of Ogbaru Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, stated on Sunday, November 1, 2026, that officers attached to the Okpoko Police Division took custody of the young child after a concerned resident found him wandering helpless in the afternoon and brought him to the station.
Preliminary interactions revealed that the boy left home to play but became disoriented and could not locate his residence or family members, though he indicated he originates from Ebenebe in Anambra State.
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Ama, commended the Good Samaritan for his prompt civic intervention and urged parents and guardians across the state to maintain closer supervision of young children.
The police command has requested anyone with verified information regarding the boy's parents or relatives to contact the Okpoko Police Division immediately to facilitate a safe family reunion.
"Interaction with the child revealed that he had left home to play but became unable to find his way back... The Command has commenced efforts to establish contact with his parents." — SP Tochukwu Ikenga, Anambra Police PRO
