Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two Nigerian businessmen based in Europe for attempting to smuggle 3.46 kilogrammes of ingested cocaine through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
The suspects, identified as Aliocus Godian Odife and Sam Blackborn, were intercepted on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during the outward clearance of Air France flight AF 832 bound for Paris.
NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi disclosed on Sunday that body scan examinations confirmed the presence of foreign objects in their bellies.
Under medical observation, Odife excreted 110 pellets weighing 1.901kg, while Blackborn excreted 90 wraps weighing 1.559kg.
Both men confessed to ingesting the Class A drug after returning to Nigeria for short holidays.
The Abuja airport arrests formed part of broader anti-narcotics enforcement across multiple states, including the seizure of 976kg of cannabis in Lagos, 554kg of cannabis in Oyo State, 347,500 psychotropic pills in Kano, and the arrest of a suspect along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway carrying 266 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition.
Commending the enforcement commands, NDLEA Chairman Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.) warned Nigerians abroad against using overseas residency as cover for illicit drug trafficking.
"The interception of two cocaine couriers at Abuja airport is a fresh warning... There is no hiding place for anyone who chooses to risk their life and liberty by ingesting illicit drugs." — Brig.-Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), NDLEA Chairman
