Thailand Police Arrest Nigerian Man, 46, for Alleged Cocaine Distribution in Bangkok
Authorities in Thailand have arrested a 46-year-old Nigerian man, Nwaiwu Ifeanyi Placid, in connection with a major cocaine trafficking network operating in Bangkok’s popular nightlife districts.
The arrest took place near Silom Soi 1, where officers seized 27 grams of cocaine.
The Metropolitan Police Bureau chief, Pol Lt Gen Sayam Boonsom, revealed that the operation also netted a Swiss national and two Thai suspects.
Total seizures from the group included 30 grams of cocaine, a vehicle, 1.5 million baht in cash, and jewelry valued at 400,000 baht.
Investigators identified another 47-year-old Nigerian, known as “Patrick,” as a kingpin who has lived in Thailand for 17 years.
Police successfully infiltrated the syndicate's chat groups to track their movements.
Despite resisting arrest, the suspects are now in custody and have allegedly confessed to the charges.
