Heartbreak as Nigerian Father of Three Dies Suddenly in UK Apartment Following Father’s Burial
The Nigerian community in the United Kingdom is in mourning following the sudden death of a father of three, identified simply as Herbert, in his apartment in Thornaby.
The tragedy is compounded by the fact that Herbert passed away on the very day his father was being laid to rest in Nigeria.
Herbert had reportedly been under intense emotional and financial strain, having exhausted his savings to ensure his father received a dignified burial back home.
In a heartbreaking turn of events, his young children—the youngest aged only eight—were the ones who discovered his lifeless body while their mother was away.
Community leaders and the Nigerian community in the UK, led by former president Benjamin Kuti, have launched a £7,000 fundraising campaign to assist the widow with funeral costs and the repatriation of Herbert's remains.
As of Monday morning, over £2,600 has been raised.
This incident follows the recent passing of another Nigerian mother in the UK, Omotayo Abioye, who lost her battle with cancer earlier this month.
