Manchester United legend Gary Neville believes Arsenal fans should be encouraged by Manchester City’s slender 1-0 victory over Burnley on Wednesday night.
While the win propelled Pep Guardiola’s side to the top of the Premier League table on goal difference, Neville argues that the narrow margin keeps the title race firmly in Arsenal’s hands.
Erling Haaland secured the only goal of the match in the sixth minute, but City failed to dominate as expected.
Neville, speaking on Sky Sports, noted that the low scoreline prevents City from pulling away significantly in goal-difference metrics.
“It’s a win for Manchester City, but it’s the best win Arsenal could have hoped for. One nil. It didn’t happen for City tonight; they will have to play better than that or they will drop points,” Neville observed.
Arsenal now have the opportunity to reassert a three-point lead when they host Newcastle this Saturday.
Neville emphasized that while City secured the vital three points, their lack of clinical finishing suggests the door remains wide open for the Gunners.
