The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has broken its silence regarding the delay in releasing the 2026 UTME results for candidates who sat for the examination on Friday, April 17.
Speaking on Monday, April 20, 2026, JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, attributed the holdup to the temporary absence of the Board’s Chief Executive on an official assignment.
Benjamin emphasized that the security of UTME results is highly sensitive and requires the final sign-off from the "big boss" to maintain integrity. He assured candidates that results would be released via SMS (sending UTMERESULT to 55019 or 66019) shortly.
In a related development, JAMB has blacklisted 23 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers across the country.
These centers were delisted for failing to meet technical and operational standards during the 2026 cycle.
Candidates affected by these center failures have been rescheduled for a mop-up examination to ensure they do not lose their chance for admission this year.
Furthermore, Benjamin dismissed calls to make JAMB results valid for three years, arguing that the UTME is a "selection test" designed for annual competition.
He also issued a stern warning against score manipulation, revealing that the board has already apprehended individuals using AI to forge SMS results.
