Iran Rejects Claims of Uranium Transfer to the United States Amid Heightened Tensions
The Iranian government has officially debunked claims that it is in talks to transfer its stockpile of enriched uranium to the United States.
During a weekly press briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei insisted that such a proposal has never been on the table during past or present negotiations.
This clarification comes as President Donald Trump signals a desire for a new round of talks in Islamabad.
However, Tehran appears hesitant, accusing Washington of a lack of sincerity. Baqaei pointed to recent "violations" of the current fragile ceasefire, including a naval blockade on Iranian ports and an alleged attack on an Iranian cargo vessel.
“Regarding the issue of transferring enriched uranium... it was never raised as an option for us,” Baqaei stated, firmly shutting down rumors that Tehran might surrender its nuclear material to secure a deal.
While a delegation is expected in Pakistan for further talks, Iran’s leadership maintains that surrendering their "legal right" to a nuclear program remains a major sticking point in the path toward a permanent peace.
