Bose Ogulu, the mother and manager of Afrobeat superstar Burna Boy, has been seen in a viral video turning to prayer following her son’s recent use of profane language and a controversial oath involving her name.
During a livestream with fellow artist Shallipopi, Burna Boy had sworn by his mother’s life while denying allegations that his team assaulted DJ Tunez in a Lagos nightclub.
The controversy began when Wizkid alleged on X (formerly Twitter) that Burna Boy’s crew had beaten the DJ.
While Burna Boy claimed he only gave the DJ "two slaps" and swore a heavy traditional oath on his mother to prove his "honesty," a subsequent video surfaced showing his team allegedly kicking the DJ on the floor.
“Oloun ma je a remi kemi. Oloun ma je a remi kemi (May my life not be lost),” Bose Ogulu was heard praying in Yoruba, surrounded by her son’s crew members in a bid to ward off the weight of the singer's declarations.
As reported by Daily Post, the incident has sparked intense debate online regarding the rivalry between Wizkid and Burna Boy, and the cultural implications of using a parent's life as a guarantee for controversial claims.
