A faction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), led by Chief Nafiu Bala, has officially dismissed a viral video showing an empty convention venue as a "desperate act of disinformation."
The group clarified that no official convention had been scheduled and that the footage was filmed at a time when the venue was naturally empty to create a false impression of unpopularity.
The faction reminded the public that the party's leadership battle is currently before the Supreme Court.
They argued that organizing a convention at this time would be a direct violation of a standing Court of Appeal order to maintain the "status quo."
Analysts on TVC News warned that such unverified content is carefully designed to spark internal crises.
The Bala-led faction urged party members and Nigerians to fact-check social media content, noting that the group remains focused on the final legal resolution of the leadership dispute.
