The "long goodbye" has officially begun for one of the greatest players in Premier League history.
Mohamed Salah has confirmed he will leave Liverpool FC this summer, ending a legendary eight-year stint that saw him transform the club into a global powerhouse.
The 33-year-old forward, who has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for the Reds, will depart as a free agent despite having a contract that was initially set to run until 2027.
According to reports from BBC Sport, the decision follows a breakdown in the relationship between Salah and manager Arne Slot, which became public after an explosive interview at Elland Road in December.
Salah’s discontent reportedly stemmed from being benched for key Champions League and Premier League fixtures, as the club shifted its attacking strategy toward newer signings like Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike.
"I never imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become part of my life," Salah shared in a moving social media post. "This is the first part of my farewell."
Since joining from AS Roma in 2017, Salah has secured six major trophies, including the Premier League and Champions League, alongside a record four Golden Boots.
While his next destination remains unknown, his agent Ramy Abbas confirmed that no agreement has been reached with any other club yet.
Salah will have 15 more potential appearances to add to his historic tally before his final bow at Anfield.
