The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has issued a stern one-week ultimatum to the Labour Party's presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, demanding an unreserved public apology to airport workers and the immediate payment of a ₦25,000 parking fine.
The development follows a major public rebuttal by the minister, who strongly dismissed claims by the opposition leader that he was being targeted and harassed by federal airport security officials.
The controversy originally erupted after Obi alleged that he was facing a coordinated state "persecution agenda" following an incident where the tyres of his vehicle were clamped at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

However, during a comprehensive press briefing on Friday night, July 10, Keyamo revealed that an internal investigation backed by the terminal's 24/7 high-definition CCTV surveillance system completely debunked the politician’s narrative, exposing clear traffic and security violations committed by his team.
According to the official logs extracted from the security recordings, Obi arrived at the domestic terminal on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in a vehicle driven by a police officer. After the politician alighted, the driver left the car completely unattended in a strict drop-off zone for roughly 30 minutes, effectively blocking the main entrance.
Keyamo explained that global aviation practices mandate drivers to stay behind the wheel in such high-security areas to avoid emergency hazards. When the empty vehicle was clamped, the driver contacted Obi, who allegedly spoke with the terminal manager, introducing himself to secure the vehicle's release without paying the legal fine.
Keyamo condemned the politician for using media channels to push a false narrative for cheap political points, warning that the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) would initiate further enforcement actions if his legal demands are ignored.
