Three Jailed in Kaduna for Facebook and TikTok Fraud After EFCC Prosecution
The Kaduna State High Court has convicted and sentenced three individuals—Aliyu Hassan, Samuel Olamide, and Solomon Joseph Christian—to five years in prison each for internet-related fraud and impersonation.
The judgment was delivered on Tuesday, March 17, 2026, by Justice A. Isiaka following a successful prosecution by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The convicts were found guilty of using social media platforms to defraud unsuspecting victims:
Aliyu Hassan (alias Ottaviani Loverules Giovanni): Impersonated a Brazilian citizen on Facebook to defraud a victim of N90,000.
Samuel Olamide (alias Johnny): Impersonated a US citizen on TikTok to scam an American identified as Jackie Sanders.
Solomon Joseph Christian (alias Jenort): Used Facebook to impersonate another individual and obtained $150.
"The defendants pleaded guilty to separate one-count charges bordering on criminal impersonation and obtaining by false pretence," the EFCC stated.
In his ruling, Justice Isiaka provided an option of a N300,000 fine for each convict.
Furthermore, the court ordered the forfeiture of all recovered items to the Federal Government, including an iPhone 14 Pro, Samsung Galaxy S21, and the cash proceeds of the crimes.
This sentencing comes as part of a broader crackdown on cybercrime in the Agwa and Kudende areas of Kaduna.
