Delta State in Shock: Governor Oborevwori’s Senior Protocol Aide Sunday Kotor Passes Away
The Delta State Government is in mourning following the sudden death of Sunday Kotor, the Senior Special Assistant on Protocol to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The veteran public servant reportedly slumped during a private event on Friday evening, March 20, 2025.
Despite being rushed to a nearby medical facility, he could not be revived and was later confirmed dead.
Governor Oborevwori, in a statement released through his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, described Kotor’s passing as a "painful loss" to the state.
Kotor was a staple in the Asaba Government House, known for his vibrant energy and expertise as a Master of Ceremonies (MC).
He had a long-standing career in the state’s protocol department, having served under the administrations of former governors Emmanuel Uduaghan and Ifeanyi Okowa.
“Late Sunday Kotor was wholly dedicated to his job. His passing is a huge loss, not only to his family but to the government and people of Delta State,” the Governor’s statement read.
A graduate of Mass Communication from Delta State University, Abraka, Kotor hailed from Okwagbe in Ughelli South Local Government Area.
His death has triggered an outpouring of grief from colleagues who remember him as a dedicated professional whose voice anchored countless state functions over the years.
