Nigerian Athletes Demand Equal Training Grants for Paris 2024 Olympics

Nigeria-based athletes representing the country at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games are demanding equal training grants to those given to their foreign-based counterparts. 

This follows the announcement by Sports Minister John Enoh of training grant payments to all athletes.

However, the disparity in amounts—$5,000 for foreign-based and $1,000 for local-based athletes—has sparked protests. 

Athletes argue that the costs of training and preparation are substantial regardless of their location, and equal support is essential for fair competition.
