Lagos Authority Clamps Down on Unauthorized Use of LASTMA Uniforms in Entertainment Industry

In a stern move to uphold its integrity, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has taken a stand against the unapproved utilization of its uniforms, equipment, and gear by film and skit creators. The unauthorized use of these elements has been deemed illegal by LASTMA, prompting the authority to take action.

Mr. Bolaji Oreagba, the General Manager of LASTMA, expressed concern about the disrespectful manner in which movie and skit makers depict the institution in their productions. By donning the official uniforms without seeking authorization, these creators are in violation of Section 79 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015, which explicitly criminalizes such unauthorized usage.

Oreagba addressed this matter with urgency after observing instances of fully attired actresses donning LASTMA uniforms in the Yoruba film titled 'Gbogbo Lowo' and various skit videos circulating across different social media platforms.

Highlighting the severity of the situation, Oreagba emphasized that film and skit producers must refrain from incorporating LASTMA officers into their works without obtaining the necessary permits. Those who disregard this directive will face legal repercussions in accordance with the law.

Oreagba asserted, "We urge the National Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (NANTA) and other affiliated organizations to caution their members. Anyone found utilizing LASTMA uniforms without a proper permit will be subject to prosecution."
