Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday asked the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, to resign or be precluded from functioning in office while his suspension subsists.

Besides, the Edo Forum of Patriots (EFP) has appealed to all Edo political stakeholders to eschew violence.
Chairman, Interim Management Committee, Aiyamehue Edokpolor, said Edo State was known as the peaceful and hospitable state in the country and frowned at the resort to political violence by some members and supporters of APC, which have dire consequences on the state’s security.
Bakut made the call ahead of the 2020 gubernatorial election at a two-day post-election dialogue for stakeholders in Benin City.

He stressed the need for politicians in the state to explore all available means of dialogue to resolve their political differences in the interest of all.
He said the carnage, criminality, and destructions that regularly occur during elections were regrettable, noting that the recent ones witnessed in Bayelsa and Kogi state governorship elections were some of the few to be mentioned.
Bakut stressed that going by the ugly occurrences in the Nigerian political system, if it was not corrected immediately, the essence of the country’s democracy might be defeated.
