The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has disbursed N2.317 billion in insurance claims and welfare benefits to 2,971 beneficiaries and next-of-kin of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu personally handed over the cheques during a ceremony on Thursday in Abuja.
The payments cover insurance policy backlog years spanning 2017 through 2025, including recovered partial settlement balances from insurance companies.
Honoring fallen personnel killed during operations in Yobe, Zamfara, and Kebbi states, IGP Disu urged beneficiaries to utilize the funds judiciously for child education and family stability while promising continued institutional reform and welfare oversight across all state commands.
"Beyond the financial value of these cheques, this exercise carries an important message: the Nigeria Police Force will not abandon the families of those who paid the supreme price in our service." — IGP Olatunji Disu
