West Ham United overcame an early deficit to earn a convincing 4-1 victory over Southampton in the second round of the Carabao Cup at St Mary's Stadium.
Léo Scienza gave the hosts an early lead in the 10th minute with a low strike into the bottom corner.
The Hammers responded just before half-time when teenage forward Joshua Ajala headed home from a corner.
Ajala doubled his tally early in the second half with a right-footed finish to give West Ham the lead. Substitutes ValentÃn Castellanos and Jarrod Bowen added two late goals to seal the result and secure West Ham's spot in the third-round draw.
"Joshua Ajala is a boy with quality... The players that come in now, joining us later, are starting to gel, also knowing each other better." — Nuno EspÃrito Santo, West Ham Manager
