Manchester United's new summer signing, Andrey Santos, has revealed his preferred tactical role to manager Michael Carrick ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.
The 22-year-old midfielder completed a transfer to Old Trafford from rival club Chelsea in a deal valued at £48 million, following the departure of veteran defensive midfielder Casemiro to Inter Miami.
Speaking on his transition to the club, Santos expressed a desire to replicate the defensive authority and impact that Casemiro provided during his tenure at Manchester United.
The young Brazilian international highlighted his enthusiasm for playing deep in the engine room, emphasizing his capability in line-breaking passes and defensive work without the ball.
Carrick has revamped United's midfield following Casemiro's departure, adding both Santos and Belgian international Youri Tielemans to strengthen central options.
Santos noted that he aims to leverage his technical qualities to break defensive lines and secure the team's balance in transition.
