A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, led by former governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, has officially declared its support for Bola Oyebamiji, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming governorship election.
Speaking at an endorsement event in Osogbo, Oyinlola stated that his group parted ways with Governor Ademola Adeleke's administration due to a persistent lack of political inclusiveness and consultation in handling state affairs.
Flanked by notable party leaders, including former Secretary to the State Government Fatai Akinbade and former PDP Southwest National Vice Chairman Tajudeen Oladipo, Oyinlola clarified that the endorsement was a "child of necessity" and conviction to advance the state's progress.
However, Oyinlola emphasized that his faction has not defected to the APC and remains composed of dedicated PDP members exercising their conscience as state stakeholders.
In response, APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji commended the group's backing, noting that support across political and social sectors positions the APC for victory.
Oyebamiji committed to running an inclusive administration addressing infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic development if elected governor.
