Indian law enforcement officers have arrested a Nigerian national, identified as Imyunel Joy, after seizing 57.18 grams of cocaine valued at over Rs29 lakh (approximately N40.99 million) in Indore.
The suspect, a Lagos resident who had been residing in Mumbai’s Bandra East area, was intercepted by police during a surveillance operation in the Sinhasa IT Park area amid Raksha Bandhan festive celebrations.
According to Indore Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Dishesh Agarwal, officers stopped Joy after she exhibited suspicious behavior while carrying a black bag containing a transparent pouch of cocaine.
Authorities registered a case under Sections 8 and 21 of India's Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at the Chandan Nagar police station, with investigators currently examining her passport, immigration records, and suspected supply network.
"The suspect admitted to purchasing the cocaine at a lower price with plans to distribute it in Indore at a markup." — Indore Police Department
