Troops of the 34 Artillery Brigade operating under Operation UDO KA have exhumed the remains of abducted community leader Chief Ibe Anyadu from a shallow grave in the Umudike Forest, Imo State.
According to a statement issued on Monday by Lt. Col. Olabisi Olalekan Ayeni, acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations for 82 Division, Chief Anyadu—a leader from Aggah in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area—was kidnapped and murdered by a criminal gang.

The breakthrough occurred after intelligence operations led to the arrest of suspects involved in a separate attack on military personnel. During interrogation, one suspect confessed to Chief Anyadu's murder and led troops to the forest grave site on August 2, 2026.
The exhumation was conducted alongside family members, community representatives, and local vigilantes. Joint Task Force Commander Maj. Gen. Oluremi Fadairo offered condolences to the family, assuring that all arrested suspects would be prosecuted under federal law.
