Suspected ISWAP and Boko Haram terrorists launched a coordinated night raid on Logomani community within the Ngala Local Government Area of Borno State, burning down a primary healthcare center, a police outpost, and multiple primary school classrooms.
The destructive attack began late Tuesday night shortly after the heavily armed insurgents mounted an aggressive assault against the military Forward Operating Base (FOB) situated in the sector.
According to formal reports, the terrorists managed to briefly breach a portion of the military base's defensive perimeter during a fierce firefight, resulting in the tragic death of one gallant soldier.
However, the deployed troops of Operation Hadin Kai rapidly regrouped, launched a decisive counter-offensive, and forced the attackers to flee into the surrounding wilderness with severe gunshot wounds. Two military gun trucks and specialized combat equipment sustained damage during the heavy engagement.
Following their repulsion from the military installations, the fleeing insurgents turned their weapons on the civilian settlement, using sporadic gunfire to scatter residents into nearby bushes before torching vital community infrastructure.
In the wake of the raid, the Executive Chairman of Ngala Local Government Council, Mala Tijjani Ngala, conducted an immediate on-the-spot assessment of the charred facilities.
While a combined security team continues to hunt down the attackers, local authorities have forwarded their structural findings to the Borno State Government for urgent humanitarian and infrastructural intervention.
