The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured the public that it has resolved the technical bottlenecks that previously hindered real-time presidential result uploads during the 2023 elections.
Speaking at a Policy Roundtable on Electronic Transmission of Results hosted by Yiaga Africa, INEC National Commissioner Abdullahi Zuru—representing Chairman Prof.
Joash Amupitan—affirmed that the commission's technological infrastructure has been significantly upgraded and successfully tested in off-cycle governorship and local council polls.

To boost voter confidence, INEC announced plans to hold a nationwide mock exercise to rigorously test its electronic result transmission systems well ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Responding to recommendations made in a policy brief presented by Yiaga Africa Executive Director Samson Itodo, electoral officials stressed that while technology enhances transparency, democratic integrity ultimate depends on honesty and sincerity from all stakeholders.
"Let me assure you that we at INEC have learnt our lessons and improved our operations... INEC will ensure that the 2027 general election shall be free, fair, credible, inclusive and transparent."
