Six Farmers Killed, Several Critically Injured in Riyom and Barkin Ladi LGAs

Renewed communal anxiety has enveloped the rural districts of Plateau State after suspected armed Fulani bandits launched fresh, coordinated weekend assaults across multiple communities in Barkin Ladi and Riyom Local Government Areas, claiming the lives of at least six innocent citizens and leaving several others critically injured.

The catastrophic sequence of events was formally authenticated by the Berom Youth Moulders-Association (BYM) through a comprehensive public safety brief compiled by its National Publicity Secretary, Rwang Tengwong.

According to chronological field data, the first wave of terror unfolded on Saturday afternoon when armed elements advancing from the Bangai border corridor ambushed agrarian laborers working their ancestral farmlands at Rinyan Village within the Ta-Hoss community.

The assailants shot dead 40-year-old Hudung Luka on the spot and inflicted life-threatening gunshot injuries on another woman, identified as 50-year-old Ladi Istifanus.

"The fresh wave of coordinated attacks by armed Fulani terrorists claimed the lives of six innocent people and left one woman critically injured in separate attacks on Ta-Hoss, Riyom LG, Sabon Layi, Barkin Ladi LG... These attacks are not isolated incidents but form part of a persistent pattern of violence deliberately targeting innocent civilians, farmers, and rural communities," the BYM stated under the leadership of Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri.

The campaign of terror escalated late Saturday night when bandits breached the perimeter of the Sabon Layi community in Barkin Ladi, brutally murdering three young residents identified as Sunday (25), Benjamin James (33), and Godwin Yakubu (27).

The armed actors struck again during the early hours of Sunday morning, infiltrating Kwi Village in Riyom to execute another civilian, Peter Bulus.

The BYM leadership has expressed grave alarm over highly sensitive security intelligence indicating that transnational bandit syndicates have allegedly established hidden tactical staging camps inside remote Plateau forests.

The association has mounted immense pressure on the multi-agency military Task Force, Operation Safe Haven, to execute immediate, intelligence-driven air and ground sweeps to neutralize these camps before families face permanent displacement.
