The tactical breakthrough, executed by the Command's specialized Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU), effectively foiled a highly coordinated and violent assault planned to take place within the university community.
According to official police briefs released on Friday night, internal intelligence networks flagged unusual operational gatherings of the cult group across several off-campus residential zones, including the Under-G, Yuako, and Adenike areas of Ogbomoso.
Acting swiftly on the high-grade field data, heavily armed VCRU teams launched synchronized raids on the identified criminal hideouts, locking down the perimeter and capturing the suspects before they could execute their violent campaign.
"During a search of the suspects and their hideout, security operatives reportedly recovered four locally made cut-to-size pistols, 11 live cartridges, one spent cartridge, two axes suspected to be used for cult activities, a cutlass, a dagger and a red hooded cult regalia," police media representatives detailed following the enforcement sweep.
Preliminary interrogations conducted by state detectives revealed that the suspects openly confessed to their active membership in the Eiye Confraternity, with deep forensic trails now linking several of the detained undergraduates to older, unsolved cult-related offenses in the state, including high-profile cases of murder.
The police explicitly identified the ringleaders as 24-year-old Adedapo Victor, the alleged capone of the campus chapter, and 22-year-old Taiwo Rasheed, his designated deputy leader.
The remaining nine arrested students span ages 20 to 32, highlighting the deep penetration of illicit student syndicates within the academic ecosystem.
Reacting strongly to the breakthrough, the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, heavily lauded the VCRU operatives for their immense professionalism and swift tactical maneuvers, which single-handedly averted a bloody clash on campus.
Reaffirming the Command’s zero-tolerance stance against violent campus fraternities, CP Olugbenga assured the public that exhaustive investigations are underway to track down fleeing remnants of the network, promising that all 11 suspects will face the full wrath of the law in a competent court of law as soon as the case file is formally processed.
