Osun 2026: Governor Adeleke, APC's Oyebamiji Sign Peace Accord Ahead of August 15 Election

Candidates from the 14 political parties participating in the upcoming August 15 Osun State governorship election signed a formal peace accord on Thursday in Osogbo, reaffirming their commitment to non-violence, mutual respect, and peaceful political competition.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, contesting under the Accord platform, personally signed the agreement. Representatives for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Oyebamiji, and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Dr. Najeem Salaam, signed on behalf of their respective flagbearers.

Speaking on behalf of the National Peace Committee, John Cardinal Onaiyekan called on political parties to treat the accord as a binding commitment to civility rather than a mere ritual.
