Armed men suspected to be bandits launched a violent attack on the residence of the Catholic Bishop at Asa III in Otukpo Local Government Area of Benue State, abducting a Catholic seminarian identified as Mr. Kelvin Ochai.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening amid worsening security concerns across the region.
The abduction was officially confirmed on Friday through a statement issued by the Otukpo Diocesan Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Joseph Aboyi Itodo. According to the release, the Catholic Bishop of Otukpo Diocese, Most Rev. Michael Ekwoyi Apochi, expressed deep sadness over the tragic event and urged the faithful and members of the public to join in prayers for Ochai’s safe release.
