"Noise, Empty": Kenneth Okonkwo Downplays Peter Obi’s Defamation Suit, Defends Strategic Shift to Atiku Campaign
Newly appointed Atiku Abubakar campaign spokesperson, Kenneth Okonkwo, has vehemently dismissed the criminal defamation lawsuit initiated against him by his former principal, Peter Obi, describing it as "noise" and an "empty, calculated attempt to gag, cow, and intimidate" him.
Speaking live on Channels TV’s Politics Today, the lawyer and public affairs analyst stated that he first learned of the lawsuit through social media, accusing Obi's legal team of playing to the gallery rather than acting in good faith.
Okonkwo challenged the validity of the court-ordered substituted service, arguing that the plaintiffs intentionally listed an old address in Enugu to claim he was evading service, despite knowing his active residence in Abuja where they previously worked together on the 2023 presidential legal team.
Doubting the legal weight of the suit, Okonkwo declared himself fully prepared for a courtroom battle, stating, "Bring them on... Let them go to the Atlantic Ocean, we will meet them there."
He vigorously defended his transition from a volunteer for Peter Obi to a formal spokesperson for Atiku Abubakar, framing it as a professional decision driven by principle. Okonkwo criticized Obi for lacking decisiveness and running an exclusionary political structure, while praising Atiku as a proven "talent discoverer" who embraces constructive criticism and holds a structured, actionable vision for Nigeria's economic prosperity and restructuring.
