The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed off a prominent nightclub and a hotel in separate, coordinated enforcement operations over persistent noise pollution and repeated violations of state environmental regulations.
The agency explained that the affected facilities were shut down on Monday following continued non-compliance with statutory environmental directives and formal abatement notices served to their management teams.
The high-profile enforcement exercise targeted the Westgate Arena Club, located on Apostolic Church Close in Olowora, and Dave Premium and Suites, situated on Alhaji Irorun Street, off Kazeem Street in Alapere, Ketu.
Carried out under the direct directive of the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, the operation forms part of the Lagos State Government’s intensified efforts to strictly enforce environmental laws and protect public health.
Officials confirmed that both establishments had repeatedly ignored regulatory warnings, causing severe disturbances to the well-being of residential neighbors.
"Environmental compliance is a collective responsibility. Individuals and corporate organisations must adhere strictly to environmental laws and regulations.
LASEPA will continue to intensify enforcement actions against violators to curb environmental nuisances," stated LASEPA General Manager, Babatunde Ajayi, following the operation.
Moving forward, the agency has vowed to maintain its zero-compromise stance, deploying all lawful measures across the metropolitan state to ensure absolute compliance from hospitality and entertainment hubs.
Business owners and residents alike are urged to adopt environmentally responsible practices or face immediate closures and legal penalties.
