Former Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has publicly voiced his enthusiasm over the prospect of former mentor Zinedine Zidane taking charge of the French national football team.
Speaking during an interview with French media outlet Konbini, the former Ballon d'Or winner reflected on his close personal and professional connection with the 54-year-old tactician, hailing him as one of the greatest managers in football history.
The French Football Federation (FFF) is currently preparing to usher in a new era for the men's senior squad following the departure of long-serving manager Didier Deschamps.

Over his impressive 14-year tenure, Deschamps guided Les Bleus through 187 matches—recording 122 wins, 32 draws, and 33 losses—highlighted by a World Cup victory in 2018.
With Zidane standing out as the leading candidate to succeed Deschamps, expectations are exceptionally high. During his two managerial spells at Real Madrid between 2016 and 2021, Zidane achieved historic success, becoming the first coach to win three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles alongside two La Liga crowns.
Benzema noted that while no official announcement has been confirmed yet, having Zidane at the helm would be an ideal choice for the future of French football.
