Operatives attached to the Gombe State Police Command have successfully rescued an eight-year-old boy who was violently abducted in the Akko Local Government Area of the state. The tactical, intelligence-led operation also resulted in the immediate arrest of four suspects directly implicated in the orchestration of the crime.
The security breakthrough followed a formal distress report lodged at the Akko Divisional Police Headquarters on June 28 by the victim's distraught father, Muhammadu Nabadara. He informed desk officers that his young son had left their family residence around 6:30 a.m. on June 27 and failed to return home.
Command detectives immediately activated regional tracking networks. Although the family received a deceptive, anonymous phone call on June 29 attempting to throw investigators off the scent, police analysts bypassed the digital smoke screen to launch a decisive raid on June 30.

"The breakthrough came on June 30 when intelligence-led operations led to the arrest of the first suspect, Abdullahi Mohammed. During the interview, Abdullahi Mohammed confessed to having conspired with Mohammed Magaji, 35; Sale Sale, 23; and Walida Ya’u, 18, all of Kagarawal Quarters, Gombe, to abduct the victim," command spokesperson DSP Buhari Abdullahi confirmed in an official statement.
Following the initial confession, backup police teams swept through Kagarawal Quarters, capturing the three remaining accomplices and securing the child. The eight-year-old victim was found entirely unharmed and has since been joyfully reunited with his family.
Commending the field operatives for their high level of professionalism and diligence, the Commissioner of Police in Gombe State, CP Umar Chuso, reaffirmed that the command will continue to wage an aggressive campaign against violent crime, urging members of the public to maintain absolute vigilance.
