Six abducted victims, including four women and two young boys, have successfully regained their freedom after escaping from an armed bandits' camp in Katsina State.
The survivors were intercepted by vigilant troops attached to the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army during a strategic routine foot patrol in the Faskari Local Government Area of the state.
According to an official military statement issued by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 17 Brigade, Captain Abayomi Adisa, the rescued individuals were found wandering through the dense bush at Unguwan Doka.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victims—identified as Mrs. Umaima Isiaku (30), Amina Isiaku (16), Safiya Isiaku (15), Ramatu Suleiman (30), Muhammad Shehu (4), and Ibrahim Suleiman (2)—had been violently abducted by armed bandits a week prior on June 22, 2026, from their homes in Unguwan Lado, within the Kankara Local Government Area.

"Troops deployed at Unguwan Doka, while on a routine foot patrol, intercepted six kidnapped victims comprising four women and two male children wandering in the bush after escaping from their abductors. Following their rescue, the troops administered first aid and provided food," the Army confirmed.
Reacting to the successful tactical recovery, the Commander of the 17 Brigade, Brigadier General Ishaya Ibrahim, highly commended the alertness of the foot patrol unit. He reaffirmed the military’s unwavering determination to sustain aggressive, ongoing operations against criminal networks and bandit hideouts to ensure the absolute safety of lives and properties across the North-West theater of operations.
