Businesswoman and elder sister to Afrobeats star Davido, Sharon Adeleke, has publicly called on celebrities, public figures, and influencers to normalize re-wearing outfits instead of succumbing to continuous societal pressure.
Speaking in a candid video posted to her Instagram account, Sharon challenged the prevailing culture in the entertainment industry where individuals are expected to purchase or create brand-new clothing for every event.
Sharon shared a personal experience where her own styling team voiced objections after she chose to wear an ensemble she had previously worn in public.
Rejecting their concerns, the businesswoman emphasized that she refuses to let external expectations govern her fashion choices or personal finances, calling for greater sustainability and authenticity in Nigeria's fashion landscape.
"On Sunday, I have an event and I did not have anything made for it. So, I decided to wear something that I have worn before, and my team objected that people have seen it before and they will see it again. But I wore it anyway.
Don’t let anybody tell you you can’t repeat your clothes. I will re-rock as many times as I like. I am not going to let anybody put unnecessary pressure on me."
